MMGS – Teeing Up for a Busy Year Ahead

Following its recent annual Northwood Golf Day, the jewel in the crown of its fixture list, the Middlesex Masonic Golf Society (MMGS) is gearing up for a series of events ahead of its 70th Anniversary next year.

The Society had been invited to take part in both the Captains Day of Metropolitan Grand Lodge on the 15th September 2022 at Leatherhead Golf Club and the Hertfordshire Craft Golf Society day, on the 22nd September 2022 at Mill Green Golf Club, promoting a spirit of sporting competition within freemasonry.

The members of MMGS should be in good form, having just competed for the Norman Moore Trophy at Northwood on a day attended by brethren from Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Hertfordshire, who asked that their gratitude for a warm welcome and hospitality was passed on.

The trophy was presented for the second time to W Bro Bukal Byas PAGDC (38 stableford points) by MMSA Chairman Paul Sully.

MMGS Secretary Harry Badh reported that: “The weather was great, the course was in excellent condition and the food was to its usual high standard – more importantly, the company was just amazing“.

Next year is the 70th anniversary of the Golf Society and the 50th year of the annual Northwood Golf Day.

To mark these important milestones, an Interprovincial Golf Day is planned on Thursday 25th May 2023 at Northwood, with a Texas Scramble followed by a good old Texan BBQ.

The annual Northwood Golf Day will be on the Thursday 28th September 2023, when the MMGS will present a new commemorative plaque to the Golf Club, to replace the original which currently resides on the fountain by the 10th tee.

Other Golf Days being considered for the 70th anniversary year are Stanmore, Pinner Hill, or Wyke Green, emphasising the rude health currently being enjoyed by MMGS.

A grateful thanks to W. Bro Ian Mitchell PProvSGD for the edit.
